What Is an FPE Calculator?

Foot-Pounds of Energy Formula

Kinetic Energy Formula
The general kinetic energy formula uses mass in kilograms and speed in m/s to give energy in joules. The FPE formula is simply this formula expressed in grains and feet per second.
Why Velocity Matters So Much
Because velocity is squared, it has a much larger effect on energy than mass. Doubling mass doubles KE, but doubling speed quadruples it. Tripling speed gives nine times the energy.
